The California and Nevada Youth Involvement Network (CNYIN), which seeks to promote financial literacy among young people, is holding a free workshop to train Southern California teachers on offering financial literacy education in their classrooms. The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12 at the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues' headquarters at 2855 E. Guasti Road, Suite 600 in Ontario.
The "Train-the-Trainer" roundtable is for high school teachers who currently use or would like to use the National Endowment for Financial Education's (NEFE) High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP). It also is open to CNYIN members and certified public accountants. The event will include a showcase of the NEFE HSFPP materials, information about successful youth financial literacy programs, and interactive group activities. All attendees will receive a free lunch, instructor's manual and one student workbook as well. NEFE's HSFPP curriculum is linked to education standards in 50 states and several national subject-area standards.
