Here is news from Ontario-based California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues:

Rancho Palos Verdes Resident Bill Cheney to Lead National Trade Association That Represents 90 Percent of Nation's 8,000 Credit Unions

The Ontario-based California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues--in conjunction with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA)--announced today that Leagues President and CEO Bill Cheney has been named CUNA's new president and CEO.

Cheney, a Rancho Palos Verdes resident, will assume his new role at CUNA on July 5. He will step down from the Leagues as of July 4. A search committee will be formed to find his replacement.

Cheney will be based in Washington, D.C., and will become the leading trade association CEO and chief advocate for the nation's credit unions. CUNA represents roughly 90 percent of the nation's 8,000 credit unions, and works on behalf of more than 90 million credit union members nationwide. CUNA's political action committee is one of the top-ten largest trade association PACs on Capitol Hill.
Cheney will also serve as president of CUNA Strategic Services, the National Credit Union Foundation, and Credit Union House, LLC (collectively known as CUNA and Affiliates). He replaces CUNA President and CEO Daniel A. Mica, a former Florida Congressman and veteran lobbyist, who has served as CUNA's head for the past 14 years.
"I am deeply humbled and honored to be named to this position," Cheney said. "In my new role, I will continue to work and advocate on behalf of the League's members. I believe my direct experience as both a credit union executive and League president will be of great benefit as I continue to work with California's and Nevada's congressional delegations on a regular, ongoing basis."
Cheney's appointment comes after a competitive nationwide executive search, and has the full support of the Leagues' boards of directors. The Leagues represents more than 340 member credit unions in California and Nevada with nearly nine million members and more than $115 billion in combined assets. During Cheney's four-year tenure, the Leagues increased its member affiliations, while managing to reduce operating expenses and the total cost of League membership.
"Bill has been a tremendous leader for our organization," said Jeff York, California League chairman and CEO of CoastHills Federal Credit Union in Lompoc, CA. "He is respected throughout California and has his finger on the pulse of Sacramento and Washington. Even during a tough economy, our organization flourished under his leadership. I have no doubt that under his new leadership, CUNA will also continue to flourish and grow."
"Bill Cheney is a tireless advocate for Nevada's credit union members," said Nevada League Chairman Wally Murray, who is also CEO of Greater Nevada Credit Union in Carson City. "He has been a terrific advocate in Carson City, and will be a terrific leader on Capitol Hill. Bill is just the right representative we need to help us continue to advance our interests and work on behalf of our members."
York has appointed Brett Martinez to chair an executive search committee to find Mr. Cheney's replacement. Martinez is the CEO of Redwood Credit Union, headquartered in Santa Rosa, CA, and is the immediate past chairman of the California League.
Prior to his appointment in 2006 as Leagues president and CEO, Cheney served as CEO for nine years at Xceed Financial (then Xerox) Federal Credit Union in El Segundo, CA. Under his leadership, XFCU grew from approximately $350 million to more than $800 million in assets. Originally from Texas, Cheney is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He is married to Christine Groves Cheney. Bill and Crissy have two children, Catherine, 22 and Will, 19.
The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues represent more than 340 credit unions in the two states. More than 10 million Californians and Nevadans are credit union members. For more information, www.ccul.org

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

Awesome post! You have a wonderful blog, absolutely the ideal Ive read so far. I will be looking forward to your next entry. Thanks again.

I've visited your blog a few times in the last week and I have to say your site looks great. I am curious to know what theme you are using. It's fantastic. How long did it take in designing your site before you were satisfied with the way it looks?

This is an extremely fantastic site you have going here. The matter is very informative and straight to the point. Excited to read more about your blog next time.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
