I'm sure you all recall the story I did a couple of weeks ago about classic movies being shown at the Granada.
For the past two months, Dave Perez, Ronald Anderson and 16-year-old Kurt Berntsen have shown the movies on Fridays and Saturdays.
Well this Friday they will entirely recreate the experience of coming to a theater in the late 1940s. The night will begin with a swing band performance followed by a re-enactment of a live radio show during that era, Berntsen said.
The movie "Hell's Angels" will be shown.
During Tuesday's council meeting, Berntsen invited Leon and the council to "pay tribute to the Ontarians."
"We need hereos Mr. Mayor not zeros," Berntsen said.
Bernsten, who was dress in a brown 1944 military uniform told the mayor if he attended that he would throw in the popcorn for free.
Which prompted councilmember Jim Bowman to say "how can we resist."
The event will begin at 4:30 at the Granada Theater on Euclid Avenue.
