Gay-friendly Joy Behar speaks her mind...

article_image_1117234543.jpgWhile Rosie O'Donnell gets most of the attention on "The View" these days, I'm glad to see that comedian Joy Behar, usually the best part of the show, is still getting in her two cents and regularly taking on resident conservative Elisabeth Hasselback.
.
"Even though Rosie's on 'The View' now, same-sex marriage hasn't come up yet. I'm waiting. I'm waiting!" Joy writes in the new issue of Instinct magazine. "I think Elisabeth will say that she doesn't believe i it. She'll say that marriage is between a man and a woman - you know, the old rap they give....When it comes to elisabeth, I want to be democratic - people should express themselves from their heart. However, I think that people who believe the stuff she does can be cornered. But then they pull the religion card out and what can you can't fight that. Either you believe or you don't. Some of these people believe that life begns at flirting. What can you do?"

160_theview_060829.jpgJoy says 'The View' is a gay-friendly show: "If it was up to me, the whole show would be gay! "Somebody said to me, 'Gay men don't love you, they want to BE you.' I think gay men just like to have a good time...I'm an outsider. Gays are outsiders. And people like us have to stay together and have fun. Life's tragic enough. You have to have a few laughs!"

Behar began her career playing small gay clubs in Staten Island and New Jersey and remembers: "Sometimes they were making out while i was on stage. It's hard to make people laugh when they're turned on, but I tried my best. I did a lot of gay clubs. They're the greatest audiences, I have to say. You can talk about smart things and they get it."
