Isaiah Washington talks w/Oprah about on-set fight...

isaiah_washington_show.jpgAs most of you know by now, Isaiah Washington's on-set spat with "Grey's Anatomy" co-star Patrick Dempsey escalated when Washington refered to one of their co-stars as Dempsey's "little faggot." It soon became known that he was refering to T.R. Knight who in response, calmly released a statement acknowledging the speculation and stating that he is gay.
Washington had released a statement apologizing for his actions but pulled out of a scheduled interview with Ellen DeGeneres. But when Oprah Winfrey made a visit to the set of "Grey's Anatomy" recently, Washington opened up about the spat.

He tells Oprah: "It was a combination of fatigue, pride, passion... I've been working with these beautiful men for three years now and we had an argument as brothers. It came about at a time and a place that was overwhelming for both of us and we resolved it easily. What it was not was a brawl, fisticuffs and all that stuff. I lost my cool... It was coming out of a place of trying to stay focused about the work and the one thing I understand about myself and my passion about everything I do is that the opposite of love is indifference... Out of that caring, we got ourselves into a debate that had to happen."

OK, so the debate had to happen. But did you HAVE to refer to your gay co-star as a "faggot"? I'm still not satisfied on this one.

Here we have in reverse what happened with Kramer from Seinfeld. However, I can assure you that his calling someone a faggot will never have the repercussion that Kramer caused with the famous "n" word. That is sacred and entirely politically incorrect whereas even the lowest street thugs get away with calling anyone faggot when they please. We are still low man on the totem poll.
