Australian Open: A tennis feast....

...for the eyes! Sunday's men's final (airing Saturday night in the US on ESPN) features world number one Roger Federer (pictured, above) against Fernando Gonzalez, the number 10-ranked player who has beaten top-ranked American James Blake, former Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion Lleyton Hewitt, reigning French Open champ Rafael Nadal, and German hunk Tommy Haas, among others, to make it to the title match.
Gonzalez (left) is a terrific player and very easy on the eyes. But so is Federer, who destroyed my pick, Andy Roddick, in the semifinals - just killed the kid. So here's what will happen Sunday: unless Federer gets hit by a truck, he will win the final in either three straight sets or, maybe, four sets. This will give him three Australian Open titles to add to his three-straight U.S. Open crowns and four-straight Wimbledon championships. That's 10 major titles overall. The all-time record is the 14 won by Pete Sampras. I think Federer is gonna blow right past that record in a few year's time. For context, such greats as Andre Agassi, Jimmy Connors and Ivan Lendl won eight major titles while John McEnroe won seven.
In closing, as much as i like Gonzalez, I was rooting for Tommy Haas to win their semifinal because, I'll admit it, he's so CUTE. So, I'll just post a little picture of Tommy here as a tribute to his strong tournament and wish him luck the rest of the season. Thumbs up Tommy!
