"Gay, Straight or Taken?" bows 2-nite on Lifetime

adating.jpgSo, a new dating show on Lifetime has a woman going out with three different men - one straight, one gay, and one in a relationship. She's gotta try and pick the single and straight guy in order to get a free trp with him. I watched the first episode awhile back and it was fine, nothing thrilling. I'd rather see a gay dating show, personally, and see how that goes. After all, we've got so many of those ElimiDATE shows on the air with some not-always very broight people.
AfterElton.com had a thoughtful piece on the new show exploring whether it is something that is good o0r bad for gays. To read it, click HERE.

The one on the left is gay. I checked my DVD's. This guy is called Luciano who was one of the contestants on "playing it straigt" on Fox a while back. The concept of that show is similar to this one except about half of the contestants are straight and the other half gay. The Lifetime people clearly haven't done their homework.

RE:  Gay, Straight or Taken -- the gay guy on the premier episode was named Luciano.

On the similarly themed, short lived 2004 Fox reality dating series Playing It Straight that aired  3 out of  6  episodes before being canceled (or  maybe it was 4 out of 7), they also had a contestant named Luciano, who was gay.

And if I'm  not mistaken, it was the same guy on both  series. In fact, I'm 95% sure it was the  same guy  -- both dark haired, dark complexion and originally from South America. Which  begs the questions, is Luciano making a career out of  appearing  on dating shows where the woman has to figure out which guys are gay?

Your thoughts?

The whole "gaydar" thing is so big ... how can this NOT be a show? I have the worst ... gaydar ... ever.
