Kevin in a soap opera on "Brothers & Sisters"
OK, I was just as stoked as anyone to see Kevin (Matthew Rhys) kiss the closet case soap star Chad (Jason Lewis) on tonight's episode of my favorite show. Chad, who claims to be straight, takes him up to a makeout spot on Muholland Drive after a Lakers game and Kevin calls him on the mixed signals. He says: "You're either gonna hack me into a million pieces or you're gonna kiss me." Then...they kiss.
Later, Kevin tells his siblings "It was like sleeping with a greek god," I happy for him. But when soap star's girlfriend returns to town and he's a little chilly to Kevin at the gym ("Oh, hi."), my heart sank. Been there, done that. And it sucks!
I want Kevin to date someone like Scotty who knows he's gay, not some closet case! Even if Jason Lewis is a beautiful closet case, his character is still the devil! And with Lewis extended from four to at least seven episodes of "Brothers & Sisters," this is gonna turn into a big soap opera. Maybe it'll be fun but I feel protective of Kevin and I hate to see him go down this road.
That said, I loved the scenes early in the episode when Kevin and Sarah are surfing the Internet trying to find clues as to whether Chad is gay. Kevin: "Too bad Justin's in rehab, he's got great gaydar!" Then he says, "Look! He brought his mom to the daytime Emmys. Oh look! He's got a bog!"
Kevin and Sarah start reading the blog and after seeing that he's got a pug named Lola and his favorite music is "all things Christina," Sarah looks at the hopeful Kevin and says, "You might be right."
