Oscar nominations: the good, the bad and the ugly

| | Comments (0) |

I dragged myself to Beverly Hills this morning to cover the Academy Award nominations and have a story posted for the Daily News online site by 7 a.m. I will be updating it throughout the morning but click HERE to read it. I've also been blogging on On the Red Carpet. But had to switch over to Out in Hollywood to really dish with you guys.
I'm pretty stunned that "Dreamgirls" was not nominated for best picture despite eight other nods. Also left off the list was openly gay director Bill Condon. Ouch! But Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy did get nominated as did three songs from the film.
And then there is my Meryl, the lovely Miss Streep. The legend, the goddess. (OK, I'll stop) Streep, who already held the record for most nominations in history with 13, earned her 14th today for the delicious "The Devil Wears Prada."
The fabulous "Little Miss Sunshine" got a best picture nomination and Alan Arkin and Abigail Breslin were nominated in the supporting categories. Happy about that. Steve Carel, who played the gay uncle in the film, did not get a nomination.
Then there is Judi Dench's crazed lesbian role in "Notes on a Scandal." I gotta see it this weekend. It looks great.
OK, back to writing for the other blog. Will have more for you later.
