Festival fave "C.R.A.Z.Y." finally out on DVD!
"C.R.A.Z.Y." was one of the better films that screened at Outfest 2006 and it comes out on DVD on Tuesday! Buy it! At least rent it! It is so well-acted and engrossing.
It's really a story of two love affairs. A father's love for his five sons. And one gay son's love for his father, a love so strong it compels him to live a lie. (So many of us can relate to that!) That son is Zac Beaulieu (Marc-Andre Grondin) and he is desperate to fit in with his straight brothers. During his first 20 years, life takes Zac on a surprising and unexpected journey that ultimately leads him to accept his true nature. Even more importantly, his father learns to love him for who he really is.
"C.R.A.Z.Y." was directed and co-written by Jean-Marc Vallee. It won a slew of awards on the film festival circuit including the audience award for best feature film at the 2006 AFI Fest (it tied with "Tsotsi" which went on to win the Oscar last year for best foreign film) and also won best Canadian feature film at the Toronto International Filkm Festival.

Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
Comments
I watched this movie last night. It's one of the best coming-of-age/coming out movies I've seen. I highly recommend it.
