Sharon Stone weighs in on Isaiah Washington's "rehab"

19828.jpgSharon Stone, star of such flops as "Basic Instinct 2," "Alpha Dog," and "Catwoman" (When was this woman last in a hit film?) talked to columnist Liz Smith about the whole Isaiah Washington mess and doesn't seem to think it's a very big deal to call someone a "faggot" in the workplace and to repeat the word in front of the world press in a professional situation:
"I've been called a bitch - and a lot worse - for years. And you know what, so what? People who think that aren't going to change their minds. And I wouldn't dream of sending them to therapy to 'rehabilitate' their feelings. How absurd...Please, I call all my gay friends 'big fags.'"
I'm sure her gay friends are not amused.

Greg, I think you're taking Sharon Stone's comments the wrong way. (And whether she is in any current hit films or not doesn't make her opinions any more OR less valid, so I don't see the point in mentioning her flops.)

The big difference is she is calling her friends 'big fags' in the way close buddies will swear at each other and not be offended by the others' comments (assuming you're giving each other implicit permission to be crude with each other).

I don't believe the same applies to Isaiah Washington's situation. While they may be fellow cast members, it would seem he's not exactly BFFs with either Patrick Dempsey or T.R. Knight.

However, Sharon Stone does have a point about the silliness of sending folks to rehab for saying nasty things, if that's their true opinions. Better to have them be brutally honest than to fake their friendship - only to stab you in the back later.
