Isaiah Washington wins NAACP Award...

While he certainly won't be accepting any kudos at this year's GLAAD Awards, Isaiah Washington's calling co-star T.R. Knight a "faggot" on set then denying it publicly did not stand in the way of his taking home the best actor in a drama series NAACP Image Award Friday night. Washington (pictured above at last year's Emmys) seemed far more subdued than the smiling confident man he had been at this year's Golden Globes and People's Choice Awards. He was given a standing ovation and told the audience he felt "extraordinarily privledged" to win the award then started rattling off a looong list of names before the orchestra began to play him off. I was listening to hear if he had anything profound to say, like maybe what he learned in gayhab or about bigortry but no, it was just list reading before he ended with "I'm humbled and honored to be honored by the NAACP."
"Grey's Anatomy" took outstanding drama hours with SAG winner Chandra Wilson named best supporting actress while "Ugly Betty" was named best comedy with Vanessa Williams winning supporting actress.

The awards were aired live for the first time...

I was also real happy to see Tracey Ellis Ross win the Image award for best actress in a comedy series for "Girlfriends." She looked beautiful in a black gown and said of her seven years on the sitcom: "I could not think of a better job and a better place to grow up and become a woman." It can't be easy to emerge from the shadow of a mother whose name is Diana Ross but Tracey has. And, she loves her mom a lot too: "I'm wearing my mommy's dress!" she said before leaving the stage.
It was cute.

Comments

The awards overall were well done; everyone looked beautiful.

The Cosby adulation was a bit heavy handed. And Bono's speech, while invigorating, was so long, they had the rush the ending of the show.

Isaiah Washington's win really pissed me off, though.
