Ricky Martin: "Life is too short to live closed up"

| | Comments (3) |

RickyMartin.jpgRemember way back when when Ricky Martin was all that and Barbara Walters flat-out asked hom on one of her celeb specials about the speculation that he is gay?
As I recall, Ricky dodged the question - more charmingly than Clay Aiken did in an interview with Diane Sawyer last year - but dodged it all the same. So Martin's comments about Mexican singer Christian Chavez, who came out publicly earlier this month, are interesting.
''Life is too short to live closed up, guarding what you say." Christian ''has to be free in many aspects. I wish him much strength.''
Well, whatever. Good to have him supporting Chavez who has been so amazingly honest and heartfelt in his public coming out. I feel like I know him a little bit. Ricky Martin? I don't feel like I know him at all.

Here's Clay, in his own words...no dodging...just the simple truth.

How astute! You're right you don't know him. Amazing how you can judge people you don't even know. Saying it's none of your business isn't dodging, by the way. It just means piss off. The public has no right to know anything about these guys private lives unless they want them to. Straight guys say it's none of your business too, only you don't call them all liars. Just the ones you choose not to believe.

Is Ricky Martin trying to say he's gay by talking about it, or that he's NOT because he's ... talking about it? It's so confusing ... I guess you're either in or out, so to speak.

Greg, have you ever written about Elton John? The guy was married TO A WOMAN at one point. So I guess even the person themselves can either a) not know or b) really be taking the beard thing too far.
