"Brothers & Sisters" recap: Kevin's disastrous blind date...

sexualpolitics_02_360x240 4.jpgUntil Sarah's creepy husband kissed Rebecca in last night's episode of "Brothers & Sisters," it was pretty much non-stop laughs with the Walker family reviving their rivalry with the perfect Jones family (or the Bizarro Walkers) in a family game night. The Jones also have five children, each about the same age as a Walker child, and were played, in part, by Susan Sullivan, Jenna Elfman and Perry King. The episode gave the entire cast - especially Sally Field and Calista Flockhart - the opportunity to do some really first-rate comic acting. To see Calista in the comedy mode all episode long reminds you of why she became such a big star as "Ally McBeal." And to have Rob Lowe shouting out answers to charades gave us a break from all the senator running for president stuff.
But we really care about Kevin, right?
theotherwalker_09_360x240.jpgKitty sets him up on a blind date with Senator MacAllister's brother Jason over Robert's objections: "Didn't you brother give you the 'Just because I'm gay doesn't mean you can set me up speech'?
The he says: "I heard Kevin was a serial dater....you used the word 'man whore!'"
Of course, Kitty does it anyway and the next scene is Kevin and Jason having coffee and when the conversation leads to Sen. MacAllister, Kevin refers to him as a "weasel" and "a mental midget" and says: "Robert MacAllister and his ilk are kind of what are wrong with this country."
Jason gets up and leaves, blatantly using one of the excuses that he and Kevin had been joking that they use to get out of a bad blind date.
When Kevin finds out that Jason is MacAllister's brother he is furious with Kitty and says to her: "I told you months ago I did not want to meet his stupid gay brother...you're dead to me!"
This confrontation is happening during game night and during charades when they are trying to guess the name of a movie with a word in the titles that rhymes with "Kitty" ["Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang"] Kevin yells out: "Backstabber!" and "The Night Kitty Died!"
It was, hysterical. Later, Kitty says to Kevin: '"Die Kitty Die?" He says that yes, "It's a movie about a meddlesome cat and she gets hit by a bus!"
Still, somehow I think Kevin and Jason will find their way back to each other soon enough.
Stay tuned.
