GLAAD Media Awards in LA.: What a line-up!!!

aaaTR.jpgThe GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, April 14 and I'm really eager to attend even if it means I will have to miss the TVLand Awards which are being held on the same night. Don't these kudofests talk to each other? I missed the Writer's Guild Awards for the first time in five years because the Grammy's were on the same night.
But enough about me.
Shared with you yesterday that Jennifer Aniston would be receiving the Vanguard Award at the ceremony and GLAAD has released other show details including that T.R. Knight, the "Grey's Anatomy" co-star who came out publicly last fall, will open the show to be held once again at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
Martina-Navratilova.jpgSome people are doing a little head-scratching over Aniston getting the Vanguard but maybe there is a lot we don't yet know. But someone we do know a lot about and who deserves every award there is for courage and accomplishment is tennis Legend Martina Navratilova. Martina will be presented with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award by former NSYNC band member Lance Bass who, like Knight, came out publicly last year under a glare of publicity. In addition to Martina, the other prominent out athlete to appear will be former NBA player John Amaechi.
Among the guests scheduled to attend are Neil Patrick Harris, the "How i Met Your Mother" star who also came out publicly last fall to put an end to speculation and pressure from some bloggers. And then there is the fabulous Sarah Paulson of "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip" who basically came out when she kissed her girlfriend, actress Cherry Jones, on national television after Jones won the Tony Award fior "Doubt."

Also on the program will be the wonderful Judith Light, "Ugly Betty" star America Ferrera, Katherine Heigl of "Grey's Anatomy" and...(I can hardly stand it!) Matthew Rhys who plays Kevin Walker on "Brothers & Sisters." Rachel Griffiths who plays his sister Sarah and Jason Lewis, who plays his lover Chad, are also on the bill. But I'm most excited to see Matthew and hopefully have a bit of a chat with him on the red carpet!
For the third consecutive year, the GLAAD Media Awards will be televised on Logo, MTV Networks' cable channel for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender viewers and their allies. The Logo airdate forthe GLAAD Media Awards is April 21, 2007.
