Jimmy Kimmel puts Sanjaya on the spot...
Sanjaya Malakar has been on this non-stop media blitz since being kicked off "American Idol" last week, appearing on everything from Leno to Letterman and even attending the White House Correspondents Dinner. But I think there is one place he wishes he had not dropped in on: Jimmy Kimmel's ABC late-night show. AfterEl.ton.com has published the following exchange for those of us who missed it. I'm cringing!
Jimmy Kimmel: You did an interview with People Magazine and you almost went out of your way to tell them you’re not gay. Why did you do that?
Sanjaya Malakar: I didn’t go out of my way to do that.
K: You didn’t? Because it seemed like you specifically…I told them a similar thing but they didn’t believe me. Do you feel like you had to say that?
SM: (shakes head)
JK: No, you didn’t? It was just something you threw out there?
SM: Yeah.
JK: Okay, because it a little bit odd to throw out there like you feel you have to clear the air. And, of course, as you hear, not that there is anything wrong with that if that was your thing. And you’re a kid. You don’t even know what you are. At this point in your life. I was humping furniture at this point when I was your age.

I think it is disgusting the way Hollywood people dwell on certain subjects. All a bunch of snobs that like to put people down or embarass them. Cathy
Ditto....
I find it amazing that all people have to do of late is dwell on this one 17 year olds failings. For one thing lets set the record straight. He hasn't failed. While he may not have been the favorite child of Idol producers, he has in every way become an idol in America. He's the fourth best known name. He's fifth most popular in Times favorite people poll. He's been in demand by every major talk show and music show on every single network. He's got some 2800 videos about him on You Tube. And on and on. So tell me where has he failed? From where I'm standing, he's smack dab in the middle of the national spot light. And more so, he's handled himself like a pro in every interview despite a less than pleasant demeanor from his hosts. Let's not forget that this IS a 17 year old. One who has shown an innate talent for the industry with poise and humility. More I might note than many of his detractors. SO what do you say America. How about we stop puffing up our own self esteem by destroying a kids? He's no different than anyone else. He has a goal, a dream for his life, and unlike many of his detractors, he is determined enough and driven to take the risks to make it happen. Personally, I respect that.
