Joan Rivers (and Melissa) out at TV Guide Channel...

aaaajoan.jpgI love Joan Rivers so I report this with a heavy heart. Well, not totally heavy since I find Melissa Rivers to be completely annoying and talentless as an on-air personality. So Joan (and Melissa) are being dropped by the TV Guide Channel after just two years of red carpet coverage.
They are being replaced by a pair of lips.
Well those lips happen to belong to the very beautiful and charismatic Lisa Rinna who I'm sure will do just fine. But I gotta hope Joan ditches Melissa (just professionally, of course) if she is gonna do the red carpet thing for someone else. The mother-daughter team had had similar duties on E! Entertainment prior to switching over to TV Guide Channel.
"TV Guide Channel is very appreciative of Joan and Melissa Rivers' contributions to the success of our Red Carpet programming over the past three years," said Ryan O'Hara, president of TV Guide Channel. "We wish them the best in their future endeavors."
aaaarinna.jpgRinna will make her Red Carpet hosting debut for TV Guide Channel at the Emmy Awards on September 16. She will host five Red Carpet pre-shows per year for TV Guide Channel, as well as headline five fashion recap shows connected to those events. TV Guide Channel telecasts live Red Carpet pre-shows at the Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actor's Guild Awards.
"Lisa has the perfect mix of charisma, poise and experience to lead our live Red Carpet coverage at the major industry award shows," O'Hara said.

Joan is a survivor as you know. A pioneering female comic, a Tony Award-nominated actress, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, a best-selling author, a movie director ("Rabbit Test") and one of the queens of the Home Shopping Network with her line of jewelry. [UPDATE: Oops, make that QVC!]
