It's official: T.R. Knight will return to Grey's Anatomy...

aaaaaaaaaknight.jpgIt would have been a PR nightmare and drilled a hole into the heart of "Grey's Anatomy" if this had not happened: Entertainment Weekly's online site reports that T.R. Knight is expected to return as a series regular. His new contract has been boosted to roughly $125,000 per episode and a small piece of the show's profits.
There was some question about his status because his character, George O'Malley, didn't pass the intern exam in the May17 finale. Also, Knight has stated in recent weeks that he did not know if he was coming back. Clearly there are still some hard feelings between he and series creator Shondra Rhimes who never publicly came to the defense of her cast member after his co-star Isaiah Washington addressed him with a homophobic slur both on the set then later publicly denied saying it backstage at the Golden Globe Awards.
The fate of Washington is still not known. His character of Preston Burke appeared to flee Seattle in the finale which would give writers a convenient way to have him exit the show. There have been some people, myself included, who believe Washington should have been fired for his behavior rather than be sent to some kind of gayhab...
