John Travolta on those gay rumors...

| | Comments (0) |

JTBreitling2005_001.jpgThe gay rumors have dogged John Travolta for decades. But from "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease" to "Pulp Fiction" and "Get Shorty" to "Wild Hogs" and "Hairspray," he keeps making hit movies (with plenty of flops in between, of course."
Playing a woman in the upcoming big-screen musical "Hairspray" certainly won't do a thing to quell the rumors but Travolta seems to care less. An interview he did in the new issue of W magazine which was excerpted on Towleroad.com this morning and I want to share some of what he said with you:

On his private life: "I have never felt compelled to share with you my bathroom habits or share with you my bedroom habits,' he says. 'Everyone has a right to privacy, so I have never felt—even though I am famous—that I had to share that with anybody."
At the end of the interview, the writer turns the tape recorder off and asks Travolta one last question: Is he bothered by the rampant rumors about his sexuality, and does he think they've affected his career?
'No and no,' says Travolta casually. 'What affects your career is the quality of the product.' Besides, he adds with confidence, 'I don't think anyone can hurt me.'"

Hard to argue with a man who has managed to stay a star for more than 30 years...
