Broadway Bass...
Lance Bass is headed for Broadway. Marc Malkin over at Planet Gossip reports exclusively that Bass is in NYC right now finalizing a deal for a five-month run in "Hairspray" that is likely to begin sometime next month. No, he's not playing Edna or Tracey! He's gonna play Corny Collins, the Dick Clark-like television dance show host who is played by dreamy James Marsden in the movie version that comes out in a few weeks. Marc says there is no word on whether Bass' new job will be featured in his reality show for the Logo, the gay cable network with which he has a development deal for a music-based series.
I'm glad to see Lance back in the professional arena and doing more than sitting in the audience of "Dancing With the Stars" and showing up at glitzy events. I'm rooting for him to be a big success in this stage of his career.

Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
