Tony winner Cherry Jones cast as female president in "24"
This sounds terrific: Cherry Jones, the out actress who has won two Tony Awards for her brilliant work on the Broadway stage, will join the cast of the FOX drama "24" which many feel suffered a creative lapse last season. Jones will portray President Allison Taylor, the nation’s first female president, according to the Washington Post. I thought Geena Davis was the first female president? Oh wait, Hillary Clinton is going to be the first female president.
"24" has been far more willing to embrace diversity in its fictional Oval Office than Americans have in their real-life White House. Dennis Haysbert previously played fictional America’s first black president: President David Palmer, on "24."
The Post reports that “[production was] recently delayed until August when a set-in-Africa storyline fell through and the producers went back to the drawing board.”
So nice to see a real actress nab a juicy television role.

with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
