T.R. Knight, NPH and Ellen among LGBT performers with Emmy nods...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatr.jpgIsn't this great?
All the garbage T.R. Knight has had to put up with off-camera this year. He's kept his grace and kept working and on Thursday, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series for his role as George O'Malley in "Grey's Anatomy." Since I just spoke to him the other night at Outfest, I'm feeling really excited for him. It was among the 10 nominations for the hit ABC show. He was the only male cast member to receive a nomination. On the female side: Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh and Katherine Heigl all received supporting actress nods.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaneil.jpgMeanwhile, the mega-talented Neil Patrick Harris was the only member of the ensemble cast of the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother" to get an Emmy nomination. He was nominated in the best supporting actor category for his hilarious performance as the womanizing Barney.
It's clear that Emmy voters believe openly gay actors can convincingly play straight on screen. Let's see it it spills onto the big screen so some of these closeted movie stars will feel comfortable enough to come out!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaellen.jpgAnd then there is that crazy gal, that fun, dancing, glorious Ellen DeGeneres. She already has an Emmy for her old ABC sitcom and a truckload of daytime Emmys for her talk show and on Thursday, she was nominated for her turn as host of the Academy Awards. I also don't want to forget the great Ian McKellen, nominated for guest actor in a comedy series for an appearance on "Extras."

Congrats to all! I hope they win!
