From bartender at The Abbey to movie star?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakarner.jpgForgot to mention this! Already mentioned being at The Abbey in West Hollywood on Monday night but didn't mention that one of the bartenders looked very familiar to me. Kept thinking about it on and off as we had our drinks and ate our dinner. Where do I know him from???
Then, as we moved to get away from a table of smokers (I proposed banning smoking from the planet Earth. Sorry smokers...hate it) and I realized the bartender was one of the leads in the Outfest closing night movie "Kiss the Bride." He was not only one of the leads, but he was very GOOD in the role. His name is Philipp Karner and we had chatted briefly before the movie but in the setting of The Abbey, it just didn't ring a bell right away. I went over and said hello and he's excited about the movie coming out, most likely in early 2008. And he should be excited, the movie is terrific and I have a feeling he won't be making apple martini's much longer.
