Merv Griffin: Public Career, Private Life...
Merv Griffin died Sunday at the age of 82. He lived a nice, long life and enjoyed tremendous success as an entertainer and talk show host them as an entertainment mogul who made a a gazillions creating the "Wheel of Fortune" and other shows which led to hotels etc.
I remember watching "The Merv Griffin Show" as a kid on LA's KTTV (now the FOX channel) and he had all the big celebs from the 70s and early 80s on and I used to think 'What a cool job! I want to interview Charo!"
Merv had a gay man's dream job. So, WAS Merv a gay man?
If you read most of the obits, he's merely a divorced man and a father. But the New York Times noted that Griffin was "dogged by sex scandals and insinuations that he was gay. In 1991, he was sued by Denny Terrio, the host of 'Dance Fever,' another show Mr. Griffin created, alleging sexual harassment. The same year, Brent Plott, a longtime employee who worked as a bodyguard, horse trainer and driver, filed a $200 million palimony lawsuit."
Both suits were dismissed and Griffin characterized both as extortion.
He told the newspaper two years ago:'I tell everybody that I’m a quartre-sexual. I will do anything with anybody for a quarter.'"

Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
Comments
He always 'seemed' gay to me and admitting to 'quartresexuality' probably qualifies him as gay.
