Mickey's in West Hollywood catches fire...

Thanks to the readers who alerted me to this: An intense fire that raced through Mickey's in West Hollywood late this afternoon was put out about an hour ago, according to City News Service. The fire was reported at 4:24 p.m. and one person had to be rescued from the second floor. Apparently firefighters are still on the scene. While most of the damage was to the second floor and attic, there also was significant smoke and water damage to the bottom floor.
There is no known cause of the fire as of yet. Since the business was just opening for its happy hour, only one person had to be rescued from the second floor and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Don't know how long Mickey's will be closed but neighbors A Different Light bookstore and Fiesta Cantina appear to have been spared.
I complain that Mickey's is kinda skanky but I am upset about this, as I know many people are. This bar is an institution in West Holywood and we've all had our share of good times there.
Will keep you posted...
