The wait is over. ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers & Sisters" have their season premieres tonight. I've seen both episodes and they are the continuation of a very good thing. Sally Field is back, fresh off her Emmy win for her performance as Nora Walker and, of course, we all can't wait to see more of Matthew Rhys as Kevin who has another same-sex smooch in the very first episode.

I write a little bit more about what I saw and have interviews with "Housewives" cast member Brenda Strong and "Brothers & Sisters" co-stars Emily VanCamp and Sarah Jane Morris in my Hollywood Joe blog.
Check it out!

Also tonight...
The second eason debut of Showtime's "Dexter" starring Michael C. Hall. I am completely hooked on this series about a serial killer who only offs bad people. When I think of James Spader winning another Emmy for "Boston Legal" when Hall was not even nominated for what is TV's best performance by any actor, the whole thing loses credibility. Hall's character isn't gay like he was as David on "Six Feet Under," but he is even more mesmerizing here.

Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
