Wednesday quotables: T.R. Knight and Katherine Heigl on Isaiah...

"I have nothing, absolutely nothing to say about it. With all due respect, I haven't said much at all, but I have said some, and I don't need to say more. That's all I need to. That's all I will talk about. That's all. 'Cause it's, 'cause it's August of '07. I'm just saying the day, it's August of '07. And it's a beautiful sunny day. In. August. Of 2007."
- T.R. Knight in today's LA Times answering a question about Isaiah Washington's inflammatory interviews this summer.

"I have absolutely no respect at all for how Isaiah has handled this. I'm disgusted. That's probably a really strong thing to say, and I'm probably going to get yelled at for saying this, but I remember sitting with T.R. and saying, 'You should say this. And you should go on that show and say that. t wasn't even me who [Washington] was talking about, but I felt so infuriated and angry because that was the only opinion getting heard. Shouldn't T.R. have something to say? But he was right. To say nothing at all is the most dignified thing he could do and the most honorable thing he could do for himself and for what really happened that day and for the whole situation. And it speaks volumes."
- Knight's friend and co-star Katherine Heigl's response in the LA Times to the same question
"I have nothing for this ruined ex- politico ex-senator ex-nice family man Larry Craig. Never met him. Never heard of him before. I don't care a fig about him. I don't care about Idaho either... It's just that in my limited, not-very-smart view, his guilt is primarily hypocrisy. The rest of the crime, if in fact Craig is gay, is of our making. The tawdry solicitation leaves us partly to blame. Draping homosexuality in shame is what forces the weak to hide and lie and rail against it publicly in order to cover themselves privately. A guess would be he spoke and voted and campaigned against it in fear for himself. To draw a curtain around his own being."
- Gossip columnist Cindy Adams on Larry Craig in today's NY Post column
Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
Comments
TR has always held the more dignified ground and glad he feels uncompelled to respond to trash. The only problem I had was the LA Times article focused too much on the controversy, which he was clearly loathe to continue. The Advocate article was able to run four pages with more insight onto him. I wish the LA Times had learned the actor himself is more interesting than that matter.
Good for Katherine Heigl. I was surprised to learn she was raised a Mormon and obviously she was able to overcome her religion's homophobic teachings.
