Coming out...as a "Fat Actress" fan....

.fatactress.jpgLast night at the Hollywood Film Festival Awards, a stunning and slender Kirstie Alley was on hand to present her "best male friend" John Travolta the award for best supporting actor for his turn as the very overweight Enda in "Hairspray."
That's the thing about Alley, I kinda miss her carryong around some of those Edna-like pounds. Mostly, I just miss "Fat Actress," her Showtime series that lasted only one season but continues to enjoy continued life as part of my DVD library.
My friend Eddie and I have had some of our biggest laughing fits - ever - watching this show. While Alley did not stroll the red carpet last night, the very funny Rachael Harris did. Harris played Kevyn, Alley's hair and makeup artist, on the show. She kept the fictionalized Kirstie looking good and was always ready with plenty of advice. She was sort of Alley's "paid" friend.
Harris, now on ABC's "Notes from the Underbelly," did walk the red carpet and I called her over to tell her how much I loved the show.
.kevyn.jpg"I have heard there are certain sects of people who just can't let it die, they love it so much...I had the best time of my life, I love Kirstie and I talk to her every now and then. We've asked her to guest on 'Notes from the Underbelly" but she's been all busy, the whole Jenny Craig bull***t.""
I wondered if there had initially been a fear that if Alley had lost weight, that would have meant the end of the show which never made it to a second season anyway.
"No. The plan was always that she was gonna lose weight. I just think they had creative differences."
Well, we'll always have those 12 episodes...
