Michael Urie talks about "Ugly Betty"

Nice interview in the new issue of TV Guide magazine with Michael Urie who plays Marc St. James on ABC's "Ugly Betty." You all know it's one of my favorite shows and having seen the first two episodes of the new season, I can tell you that it continues to be terrific.
Here are some excerpts from the interview:
On what Urie and his television alter-ego have in common: "I love my job and he loves his job. But I'm not fashionable or mean. Marc and Amanda are pretty much Michael and Becki [Newton] - we're goofy like that."
(The character of Marc St. James is also gay, but Urie does not say if that is something he has in common with the character.)
Marc gets a boyfriend on "Betty" this season. Does Urie has an off-screen significant other?
"I'm single and I have lots of friends, but I'm sort of married to the work. But I'm moving into a bigger apartment, so there might be room for a significant other at some point."
On being recognized in public: "It's crazy! Last night at the grocery store was the first time anybody called my name, "Michael Urie!"...Luckily, I don't feel like when I get recognized people think, 'Yuck, there's THAT guy." They like the show and are really nice about it."
Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
Comments
I saw him on The View when his parents were in the audience. It was painfully obvious that he hasn't told them yet. Very interesting but he is a young actor who probably feels that it might hamper his career bla, bla, bla...
Right out of the [deleted] book of Sean Hayes.
