King Roger caps off brilliant year...
My pal Henry e-mailed me from overseas with the results of Roger Federer's match today before I even had a chance to have my morning coffee! He was excited that the world's top tennis player had easily beaten David Ferrer to win the year-end championships in Shanghai.
Federer had more losses this year (9) than he has had since 2003, the year he won his first Wimbledon. But then you consider that he still managed to win more tournaments (8) than any other player on tour, became the first player to earn more than $10 million in a single year, and defended his titles at Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and Australian Open.
Not so bad for an off year!
Greg Hernandez has covered the entertainment industry for the Daily
News since 2001. He's considered a bit odd by some for his obsession
with box office numbers, has been known to camp out near the kitchen
at premieres for first crack at the hors d'oeurves, and Greg's never
seen a red carpet he didn't want to stroll down.
