Advocate Interview: Lance Bass on Reichen...

.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalanceb.jpgWanted to share a few paragraphs from the well-written cover story on Lance Bass that is in the year-end issue of The Advocate:

...Just a few months after the desolution of 'N Sync, Bass met Reichen Lehmkuhl. Best known for winning the CBS reality show The Amazing Race, Lehmkuhl was working in real estate and was introduced to Bass when the entertainer was planning to sell his Los Angeles house. The two eventually started dating, and sightings of them together began to pop up on gossip blogs. This was a turning point for Bass, since Lehmkuhl is openly gay.

"I was finally in a relationship I was proud of," Bass explains. "I was very much in love, and when you're in love, you don't care what people think."

However, Bass admits that gays' treatment of Lehmkuhl made him wary of what his own reception might be like: "I saw that half the people hated Reichen's guts - they didn't just dislike him, they hated him - and the other half just loved him. I never could understand that."

Comments

"well-written"? Hmmm. Haven't read it, but if this is a sample one needs to ignore the fact that the author is either too young to have seen Reichen repeat, AND then-partner Chip Arndt win "The Amazing Race" TOGETHER [which would be rough given that it was only four years ago] or is so smitten with Reichen that he swallows whole Reichen's press kit rewrite of history. Again, I realize this is but an excerpt, but Bass has made rather clear in other interviews that he NOW gets why so many hate the Reichenator.
