I hate to miss a good party. And last night, I nearly did.

Was invited to Showtime's holiday party which began at 7 p.m. Tuesday night. I had to get up really early to cover the Women In Entertainment breakfast so was dragging around the office. One of my work buddies said: "Why don't you go home and take a nap before the party?"

Great idea. I went home, hopped onto the sofa and started reading my copy of Variety. Next thing I know, it's dark outside and nearly 9 p.m. Yikes! I threw myself together and dashed out the door. Good thing the party was in Hancock Park, just a five minute drive from Park LaBrea.

Sorta forgot I hadn't eaten dinner until I walked in and spotted this terrific buffet. One of the Showtime publicist mentioned that the celebrities were out back then realized my first priority was food! I chowed down and talked to Andrew Wallenstein who is deputy editor of The Hollywood Reporter where I worked for about a year a long time ago. Michael C. Hall ("Dexter") walked by and I wanted to say hello but had a mouthful of turkey in it.

Then, decided to go out and mingle. Spotted Showtime's head exec Bob Greenblatt and told him what a nice house he has. He said: "It's actually not my house. We rented it for the party. I don't even think anyone lives here."

Heck, I'd live there.

I got out to the patio and there I see the tall drink of water that is David Duchovny who looks even more handsome in person. I did a little interview with him a few months back at an Outfest event but for some reason, he looked even more gorgeous last night. Also there were Kevin Nealon, Ethan Embry and Sunny Mabrey.

Buit my late arrival meant that I had missed Matthew Modine, Swoosie Kurtz, Justin Kirk and worst of all, Tracey Ullman. I'e never met Tracey Ullman and think she is a ridiculously talented woman.

Still, it was nice to get out of the house, have a nice meal, some good conversation, and call it a night.
