John Amaechi is now blogging!

amaechi.jpgI think John Amaechi, the former NBA player who came out last year, is one of the more intelligent and perceptive LGBT public figures in addition to being very charming. So I'm glad to see that John is a part of Keith Boykin’s new site The Daily Voice.

He kicks off with a post about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama wondering if either of them is really a candidate of change:

I will not clap when a Senator from the state of New York stands two feet in front of me and answers a question about her thoughts on marriage equity and instead tells me it's a "state issue."

I am heartened when the "real candidate for change" stands in a black church and speaks against homophobia, but dismayed when he never speaks on the need to end it completely to achieve equality.
