American Idol: Will David Hernandez's stripper past derail his chances?

It's all over the news now: talented "American Idol" semi-finalist David Hernandez had worked as a stripper in the not-to-distant past. This is the kinda thing that got Frenchie kicked off the show - undeservedly I might add. So you gotta wonder if producers knew before-hand and did not care or if they are going give him the boot. I hope they just let him and let America decide. The AP, citing unnamed sources, has just reported that he will remain on the show and perform tonight as planned.

A strip club manager had confirmed to The AP on Monday that the 24-year-old from Glendale, Ariz., was a stripper at Dick's Cabaret in Phoenix for three years before joining the Fox singing competition. Fox has declined to comment on Hernandez or his status.

An earlier AP story that is being widely run, including in The New York Times, reported that Hernandez appeared fully nude and performed lap dances for the club's ''mostly male'' customers.
