Rupert Everett calls Americans "whiny victims..."

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,rupert.jpgAt some point, I'll have to start ignoring the beyotch that is Rupert Everett who still seems to be angry about not having Hugh Grant's career. In an interview withg Radio Times, here is what the one-time movie star ("My Best Friends Wedding") had to say about Americans:

"I'm totally off the States now. The reaction to 9/11 and then George Bush - really, they've got very blobby as a nation. Now they [the Americans] are whiny victims whose language is entirely taken from two TV shows - Friends and Sex And The City - and there's nothing sexy about them any more. And that kind of semi-blindness about the rest of the world, which was attractive when America was exciting, is really unattractive now."

Ironically, everything that was attractive about Rupert is unattractive now...

As an American, I think Rupert Everett's comments are "spot on." You are, of course, entitled to your opinion of him and his comments but reader is sorely disappointed in your negative comments. Obviously you don't think that the right to free speech applies to everyone.

As a Brit, I find Rupert's comments to be merely a reflection of the anger a lot of people, American and not, feel about the influence and bullyboy tactics of America. It's not that we don't appreciate the US or think it should soften its approach to terrorists but it has also stomped its way around the world over the years, knocking over much in its path in its quest for US First. I think it's more a complaint on policy, not actual Americans, as individual Americans can be great. I mean we all have problems in our nations, us Brits have got fat and complacent too!

My personal problem with Rupert is that he seems to do nothing but moan these days. It's like there is no joy in his life at all so he wants to suck the joy out of everyone elses existence. Some of his points are valid, and he has a right to them, but he is almost certainly bitter to the core and it shows.

He cannot keep on blaming being gay for being a leading man failure because most likely it was largely to do with his own conduct and attitude, plus, not everybody is born to make big. Plenty of straights never get anywhere in acting too. He's still done a lot better than most that put their name down for acting. It's time he remembered that!
