California Supt. of Schools Jack O'Connell: "Prop. 8 has nothing to do with schools or kids..."
It's one thing to be against gay marriage. It's another thing to lie about what it means. While a barrage of misleading commercials helped pro-Prop. 8 forces in the polls, they are now being heavily countered by spots like the one above by California Supt. of Schools Jack O'Connell who says: "Our schools aren't required to teach anything about marriage and using kids to lie about that is shameful..."

When you only tell part of the truth it is still a lie. It is true that California schools are not required to teach about marriage, however, if the school decides to teach sex education then they ARE required to teach about marriage. Over 90% of the schools in California DO have sex education programs, and are required to teach about marriage.
