Eric McCormack on his new TV role...

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,eric15.jpgEric McCormack had such a stellar eight-year run on NBC's "Will & Grace" that he knew he had to be picky when it came time to return to series television.

He has chosen the TNT drama "Trust Me," which is about the private and professional lives of employees at a Chicago advertising agency. The ensemble cast also includes Tom Cavanagh of "Ed" fame. (A major Greg crush!)

"I knew what I wanted to do," Eric told me this week. "I didn't want to go back to a sitcom. I wanted to do an hour, but I still wanted it to be funny. I wanted smart. I wanted a setting that wasn't a cop or a lawyer or a doctor, and I wanted to have a good time. When Cavanagh was interested in the other part, I thought, 'We're gonna be a great team.'"

As great as Will Truman and Grace Adler? Only time will tell.
