Tipper Gore, Jane Lynch and Bruce Cohen on Prop. 8...

Chatted up a distinguished trio of Tipper Gore, Bruce Cohen and Jane Lynch at Saturday night's LA Gay & Lesbian Center Gala and Auction to get their thoughts on the anti-gay marriage initiative Proposition 8 on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Here's what they said:
Tipper Gore: I think it should be defeated and I think it should be defeated because it;s about human rights and it's about discrimination. Anytme that is on a ballot, for goodness sakes, it needs to be defeated soundly and decisively by the voters of the state."
Jane Lynch: "It looks like we're neck and neck and I just hope that everyone actually gets out and votes and says no to 8. I hear it's going to be a really close call and we need everybody. (The pro-8 commercials) are awful, they're negative campaigning, it;s terrible. What are you gonna do? They picked some really horrible footage of Gavin Newsom looking really cocky and unattractive and it's just too bad and they know it's scaring people. There are those who are against our unions and they're always going to be and we're never going to change them but it would be nice to get some of those people who are on the fence."
Bruce Cohen, the Oscar winning movie producer who was married in June by LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa: "We're very concerned. We're all very scared because the other side has raised so much more money. The Morman church has now poured in over $20 million into the "Yes on 8" campaign, there are estimates that 40 percent of all the money they've raised is coming from out of state and from the Mormans. That's one of the focuses of the next two weeks is to let Californians know who is behind Yes on 8. ... We have lots of money to raise and lots of media to get up on the air, lots of work to do."
