Happy Birthday to Carrie Fisher...

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,carrie.jpgThe movie star ("Star Wars" trilogy) turned author/screenwriter ("Postcards from the Edge") turns 52 years old today. I love Carrie Fisher because she is a very, very smart and very, very funny woman. She has battled her demons and survived and has the courage and sense of humor to share it all with us: the drug habits, the nmental breakdowns, her relationship with mother Debbie Reynolds and her disastrous marriages first to Paul Simon then to agent Bryan Lourd with whom she has a daughter.

Lourd famously left Carrie for another man and she writes about it in her new memoir "Wishful Drinking." She writes that Lourd blamed her and her perscription drug abuse that made him gay:

"He told me later that I had turned him gay . . . by taking codeine again. And I said, 'You know, I never read that warning on the label.' I thought it said 'heavy machinery,' not homosexuality - turns out I could have been driving those tractors all along!' "

I also came across this clip of Carrie's appearance on Craig Fergeson's late night talk show during which she explains how Elizabeth Taylor became her stepmother in a 1950s love triangle that was the Brad-Angelina-Jennifer Aniston headline of its day:
