Hats off to "Alice"

I know this is random but I wanted to wish Linda Lavin a happy birthday (the Tony winner tunred 71 today) and it gives me a good excuse to run a clip of the opening credits of her long-running sitcom, "Alice."

Love that theme song. Also watched "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" last weekend for the first time in forever and noticed two things: 1) Ellen Burstyn's best actress Oscar was absolutely deserved and 2) Diane Ladd (Oscar-nominated for her role of Flo) is just sensational in the film. She joined "Alice" the TV series inspired by the movie, for its fifth season as a waitress named Belle, won the Golden Globe, then returned to films. She went on to be Oscar nominated for "Rambling Rose" and "Wild at Heart."
