Remembering Edie Adams...

Edie Adams, the Tony Award winning actress and widow of comedian Ernie Kovacs, died last week at the age of 81. She had supporting roles in such films as "The Apartment," "Lover come Back" and "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Mad World," "Under the Yum Yum Tree" and "Love With the Proper Stranger." She also had her own ABC show in the mid-60s.

But I will always remember her for her place in the history of "I Love Lucy." She and Kovacs were the finals guest stars on the show and as part of that last episode (stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were divorcing), Adams was asked to sing a song for one of the scenes - a song of her choosing.

She chose the lovely "That's All" which could not have been more poignant considering the situation. She didn't know the famous couple was splitting up and was taken by surprise when as she sang, everyone on the set was in tears.

Watch this video, with Vivian Vance at the piano, and you will see why. It remains my favorite version of this great song.
