"The Starter Wife" series premieres tonight...

There's lotsa reasons why "The Starter Wife" - premiering as a regular series on USA Television tonight - has the makings of becoming a real gay fave. But I say this without having seen any of the series yet (I did see the entire miniseries on which it is based.

Debra Messing returns as Molly Kagan, onetime Hollywood royalty and now ex-"Wife Of" a major movie producer, She's now determined to make her own place in the world.

Her high-maintenance friend Joan is played by the great Judy Davis who won an Emmy for her performance in the miniseries last year. Her gay pal Rodney is played by Chris Diamantopoulos. Rodney gets involved with a closeted movie star right off the bat! And then there's this: Messing's new love interest is played by Hart Bochner, many a gay man's first crush.
