Tom Cruise pays tribute to Paul Newman...

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,money01.jpgPaul Newman is on the cover of next week's People magazine. Part of the multiple page tribute includes a piece by Tom Cruise, Newman's co-star in 1986's "The Color of Money," the film that earned the actor his long overdue Oscar for best actor.

Tom wrote in part:
"He was bigger than life to me. But he always had a way of putting us all at ease ... he called me cruiser or sometimes kid. We would grab time to hang out whenever we could find it."

Tom closes by saying "his life will forever inspire me. The world has lost an icon; I have lost an idol."

It's a nice tribute to be sure but I can't help but think about how differently Newman handled his superstardom compared to how Cruise has handled what is left of his with the couch jumping, Brooke Shields bashing etc.
