Clay Aiken not interested in being friends with Kathy Griffin...
Well, I can't say I really blame him.
We love Kathy Griffin, obviously, but it's never cool to out someone. E!Online's Marc Malkin reports that our favorite D-lister tried to make amends with Clay Aiken last week when they both guested on "Rosie Live!" but he wasn't having any of it. Kathy had gotten a lot of lmaterial out of Clay's sexuality pegging him "Gayken" in her standup act long before he came out of the closet.
"I held up one of those ghetto blasters playing one of Clay's songs, and I begged him to take me back and he said no," Griffin said at last night's Grammy nomination concert in downtown L.A. "And then I walked out of the room and Gloria Estefan said to me, 'I told ya--you shouldn't have gone in there alone.' "
Malkin writes that Griffin said she was, at the very least, hoping for some sort of thank-you or acknowledgement for her role in helping him come out. "There were no words of thanks or even really any words at all, for that matter. I would have to say he was not very nice."
He doesn't need to thank her for anything. We gotta be able to come out when we are ready.

Kathy with a ghetto blaster of Clay's music? Sounds like part of her comedy routine to me.
I'm pretty sure Kathy was joking about Clay thanking her. That's her style of humor.
I've never understood why gay people like Griffin, when she has such complete and total contempt for them. Her comments about "her gays" sound exactly like my sister when she is referring to "her dogs." Her inability to show the slightest bit of empathy to someone struggling with the issue of coming out just astonishes me. That she ridiculed this guy for five years because he was gay, even going so far as to mock him name, makes me wonder if she is even human. And then Mr. Hernandez says he loves her? I must be on the wrong planet.
Docb...thank you for saying what I've been saying for years. I truly cannot understand why mocking someone for being in the closet is seen as a positive or helpful thing by anyone. "Just a joke" can't cover cruelty, especially when the joker claims to be so supportive. I see no difference - NONE - between Kathy Griffin calling him "Gayken" for five years while everyone points and laughs and a kid in a school yard calling a skinny boy "f*gg*t" while everyone points and laughs. This is a weird world we live in.
Have seen both of them in concert. Clay Aiken is funnier than Kathy Griffin and she's supposed to be a comedian??? I was amazed at how funny Clay Aiken is, quick witted and biting without being mean. He could be a comedian, he's a lot funnier than Kathy, she's got to be jealous.
