Take a look at the commercial about a gay family that KABC refused to air during its inauguration coverage...

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,commercial.jpgIt's been such a busy week but i'm not too tired to be really ticked off over this: Advocate.com reports that KABC in Los Angeles was the only station in the state that was approached that refused to sell airtime to a GetToKnowUsFirst.org commercial featuring gay and lesbian families.

KABC called the spots, which ran everywhere else on inauguration day, "too controversial to air during the inauguration, since many families will be watching."

WHAT? i've watched the spots and they are completely harmless. Hey KABC, there are gay families all over the state and nation. Get over it. The commercials were filmed after California's passage of Proposition 8 and were scheduled to air in 42 of the state's 58 counties. They aired during such highly-rated shows as "Good Morning America" (aired on ABC - KABC is the Los Angeles affiliate) as well as NBC's "Today Show."

Gettoknowus.org writes on its site: Next stop? The Super Bowl! Every dollar we collect will go to purchase ads during the most viewed sports event of the year (Sunday, February 1, 2009), replicating our regional DMA media buy strategy. No doubt, our PSAs will be the topic of many a water cooler conversation. I am willing to believe that, stacked up against the Cheetos, Fritos and Pepsi ads, ours will stand out as remarkable

Here are the spots that were "too controversial" for KABC:
