I just got back from the Academy Award Nominees luncheon at at my table was "Milk" producer Bruce Cohen who I also saw at the Directors Guild of America Awards Saturday night. I'll post our conversation in a bit. Since I hadn't had the chance to check the weekend grosses, I asked Bruce how "Milk" had fared in its widest release to date.

The film expanded to 882 locations after adding 633 theaters on Friday. Business increased by 65 percent from the weekend before with a three-day gross of $1.5 million. The film, up for eight Oscars including best picture, has now grossed a respectable $23.5 million which is more than it cost to make.
