Tour de Todd

Today's cycling story was supposed to hype an online video package I prepared last week for your collective enjoyment.

UPDATED: The story is now online with a headline that ain't too bad. Let's cross our fingers and hope "Council weighs Heritage options" has been retired.

very well done...how come the PSN story today didn't promote it?
Miscommunication. Organizationally, we're still new with the whole multimedia thing and figuring out how to slipstream it into our daily metabolism.
Woah..this is really good.
Right on, you big dork on a bike! I love it.
Great video! (And I'm glad you liked the headline.)
I have walked the Rose Bowl as they are riding - and it's a little intimidating. Not only are they going so fast, but there is this pack mentality that creates fear. They are kinda like a gang - but instead of blue and red, with saggy jeans - they are all in tight spandex. And they took their whole gang with them to the meeting - too bad the Council was bullied too.
Why be scared of a gang of cyclists? What are they gonna do? Use their Livestrong bracelets as slingshots?
Those middle-aged white guys have a lot of pent up, repressed anger...you never know what might make em snap and go all Michael Douglas in "Falling Down".
That movie rules. "C'mon dude..I was in Nam!" "What were you..a drummer boy?"
Velothugs.
They found a good thing, a free training center for athletes. What's next, the Rams practicing on area H? The Rams are members of the public too. Ridiculous, yes, but no less so than these cyclists who feel they can take the area away from essentially all other users. If they want it, make them pay the cost of traffic control and insurance.
Why would the Rams practice in Pasadena?
Why would we allow 100 people (most of whom do not live in Pasadena) to scare away hundreds of other people who do live in Pasadena from using the Rose Bowl after work in Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pasadena First.
video shows a rider from La Canada and a self-obsessed dork from Redondo Beach...uh no guys...get your "adrenaline rush" somewhere else
I agree Pasadena First. Can we also get rid of the 100's of people who scare me away from spending my money in Old Town and the Paseo? Ban those skinny blonde bitches in those over-sized Paris Hilton sunglasses while we at it.
Oooooh nooooooO we can't ban the skinny blonde bitches, Aaron, because besides PH sunglasses they drive very large SUVs that run over joggers and clip the handlebars of bikers as they race by to nab a handicapped parking space to unload their ginormous stroller to walk the wrong way around the Rose Bowl with their Bluetooth connected to their oh so nervous white collar husband on the 33rd floor of a Century City highrise where they sweat between "yes dears" and "yes I know our house is worth more than a million five", and they are entitled to whatever the current trend is in their pea-sized "desperate housewife" brains. I'm not bitter.
ok I admit it...I own 4 different strollers...the lightweight one u buy for the trunk that accomodates the car seat....then the ginormous one u buy for the major excursions...then the expensive lightweight one for toddlers...then the jogging one which u get after u have the 2nd kid
Miss H, you make my blogging days oh so brighter. :-)
The video is great. Sadly my experience with the cyclists is that there are many rude elements amongst them. Cry like babies when they think anything will impede them. I personally pulled a child out of their way a second before he would have been run down. Stop for a child? No Way! Total group think. Would we tolerate it in younger less affluent group?
Don't a lot of those cyclists take steroids? Chris Benoit!
Stolen from another blog: There should be some way to accomodate the bike riders. How many large orange cones would it take to separate the walkers from the bike riders? So, people hate them. They hate jazz. They hate the NFL. They hate UCLA. They hate AYSO and Villa Park soccer. They hate concerts. They hate anything and anybody that makes use of the Rose Bowl for something other than a glorified flower vase and walking path. Maybe the library can use it for reading group meetings as long as they don't turn the pages too loudly or read anything thought-provoking. D.
If they would organize and pay for traffic control and orange cones, that would be fine! It is a public safety issue not likes and dislikes. They made the golf course put up nets to protect the public and this is no different.
Why don't the walkers pay? How about a charge for everyone down there walking, running and riding? I know let's be San Marino and charge anyone from outside Pasadena to use it or maybe anyone from a neighborhood that isn't within sight of the Rose Bowl? Instead of trying to chase people away, why not make it work for everyone? D.
Under state law, bicycle racing is defined as a a "hazardous activity." Walking and jogging are not. If there are costs with making bicycle racing safe for the area, why shouldn't the bicyclist pay for it? What does that have to do with Lacy Park -- we who grew up here know what the issue was with Lacy Park. Don't even compare the two.
