Missing in Action

Strange ... Council came out of closed session tonight without a report on any action taken in said closed session. No report given throughout the entire proceeding, as required under the Brown Act. What's that?

Updated: I was expecting the appointment to be made last night, as it was. A news release was sent out just before midnight with the news. There was no disclosure of the closed-session action taken at any point during the meeting.

Adhering to the law can be inconvenient, and in the case of hiring situations, it may even be impolite. But as with many small-to-mid cities, Pasadena lawyer-politicians take it upon themselves to decide when the law does and does not apply to them. Is breaking the law OK when there are no consequences?

Perhaps as interim City Manager, Chief Melekian can encourage adherence to the law.

More importantly; where the hell is Aaron Proctor?

They violated the Brown Act because they didnt announce that they had taken action to appoint Melekian interim. The closed session went long and when they came out Bogaard was so punchy that he had to be reminded to hold public comment by Chris Holden.

Gee. Think mayor Bill didn't get his way with the Interim CM? Guess that Ventura pal's gotta stay up north for six month more. Or maybe it's that there's nothing stopping Melekian from getting the permanent job. Points to Pasadena for Bogus Bill not getting his pal's way (yet). D.

They should be sued and forced to tape record their closed sessions from now on so the backroom dealing can be hampered.
I don't think they are in violation of the Brown Act. Notice was certainly given that there would be an interum appointment made. Whether they announce at the public meeting or by way of the PIO is not a violation either. I could be wrong.
Know what else? They need to teach reading more vigorously in our schools (public and private).

Melekian has a history of grossly overreacting to circumstances. He killed two people on two separate occasions under questionable circumstances in Santa Monica when he was a cop there. He has had an unusual amount of turnover at the upper ranks of the Pasadena police department. In 2003 the 46 people in the Chief's Office had a budget of $5.1 million. Five years later those same 46 people have a budget of $7.3 million...1 43% increase in 5 years and not one extra person added.O For the Pasadena Police Department as a whole, over the last 3 years the police department’s budget increased over 30% yet the number of police department employees rose less than 2%. Melekian and his cronies are robbing the city blind, pocketing all the budget increases for themselves in the form of salary and benefit increases instead of providing additional services to the City.

Dracula has just been put in charge of the blood bank. One of Melekian's criminal cops was shot and killed by someone whose house he was breaking into...the killing of this crooked Pasadena cop was ruled a justifiable homicide yet Melekian still let this cheap badge-heavy gangster cop get a weepy department sponsored funeral service. What does that tell you about Melekian's concept of public accountability?

looks like instead of killing two people he may have killed just one back in 1980.
Who is going to be running our POILICE DEPARTMENT while Melekian is temp city nanny??? I am just wondering, is he going to be head of PD & the whole city at the same time? Is he being given any lunch money by China? Silly me.
