No decision on PAS city manager

| | Comments (2) |

The council meeting tonight started 30 minutes late because the council was stuck in the closed session, where they were discussing the city manager job.

However, when the meeting did start, Mayor Bogaard announced the council had not yet taken action, or at least any action required to be reported to the public.

It appears a lot of that extra time likely went towards discussing the new city manager (there were other items to consider), since the council did not actually finish all the items it was slated to do in closed session, despite the extra half hour.

The delay in making a decision could have something to do with the fact that council members Steve Haderlein, Steve Madison, and Victor Gordo are not at tonight's meeting.

And for anyone who is questioning my grammar, using the present tense in the previous sentence is correct, because I am posting this from the council chambers.

DA, any idea which council members have the best & worst attendance records? They run for office, presumably because it's a job they really want to take the time for, but then do they show up??

I certainly hope that the finalist for Pasadena City Manager is not a repeat of the last ten years of poor performance on critical issues. The Council is another matter all on its own. The City Council and the previous City Manager have been very good at "Talking the Talk" on a number of important issues like the environment, quality of life, public services. I give the City an F on the utility preparing for solar power. I give it an F on water conservation, I give the City a D- on alternative fuels and cleaning up the cities vehicles, and now our costly bill for dirty diesel is real. I do give a little clique on the Council an A for arrogance. The Mayor and Council just can't seem to bring themselves to Walk the Walk on the substance of these issues. There are a few notable exceptions on the Council, but they don't seem to get any attention or respect from the clique. I'm afraid another Manager that is "in step" with the Council's ineffective mode, will not be much of an improvement for Pasadena?
