Local California elector caught up in Obama lawsuit
If you haven't heard already, our President-elect might not have been born in the U.S. At least, that is what multiple lawsuits from conspiracy theorists across the country are alleging, including one against California's electoral college electors filed by none other than Alan Keyes, Obama's one-time carpetbagging rival in the 2004 Illinois Senate race.
The electoral college electors are the ones who actually get to cast the vote for President based on what the votes we cast for them when we vote for Obama (if you didn't pay attention in your high-school civics class this might sound like a incredibly strange and circuitous way of voting, which, of course, it actually is). Those electors, including one Greg Warner, the son of congressional candidate Russ Warner, who ran for David Dreier's seat this year, were named in the lawsuit.
Warner (Greg that is) told me in an interview yesterday that he suspects that the reason he and other electors were named is so Keyes and his partners in the lawsuit could get a hold of their personal contact information. Since the filing of the lawsuit last month, he says, he has received an endless stream of mail from Keyes imploring him to demand more proof of Obama's citizenship, and to ask the secretary of state of California to investigate further before certifying the votes.
There are also a number of other lawsuits about Obama's citizenship. For a great write-up check out this article on Slate.
